Welcome to Mirkwood! A dark place where there be elves and spiders.

Mirkwood, or Taur e-Ndaedelos (in the tongue of the Grey Elves meaning "Forest of Great Fear"), was the surviving portion of the great forest of Middle Earth known as Greenwood the Great. In the Third Age, Sauron, Lord of the Rings, had taken residence in Dol Guldur in the south of the great forest, attracting all manner of evil beings, thus giving Mirkwood it's foul reputation. By the beginning of the Fourth Age, after the defeat of Sauron, Mirkwood was renamed Eryn Lasgalen, the "Wood of Green Leaves."
